St Ignatius of Loyola
This is a free, copyright free translation of St. Ignatius' Spiritual Exercises, so the language can be difficult in places and can be translated better for a modern audience. The Spiritual Exercises is one of the great classics of Catholic Spirituality and contain the best reference to spiritual discernment. It contains several prayer methods including meditation and contemplation, the daily examen, rules for discernment (broken up into 2 parts called first week and second week), and guidelines for making an election (a decision about what God's will is for you in a certain matter). It also contains a recommended set of meditations most based on the life of Christ.

This is one of the best introductions to philosophy on the Internet. The audio version is for sale on audible and amazon.  You can download the zipped version of the book from Audible with this link. The notes are very similar to the actual audio, but it is so good to just listen to Kreeft himself explain it and it is so well put together.

The examen prayer is a short method by St. Ignatius to examen our daily life so we can overcome sin and grow in virtue and closeness to God. In five short steps is a method that Ignatius recommends daily to everyone and twice daily to his Jesuits. It is the foundational prayer to become aware of the movements of heart so we can be aware what is of God, us or as St. Ignatius calls him, 'the enemy'. St. Ignatius' method is less than a half page in length, yet it opens the door to a deeper spiritual journey. In his book on the Examen Prayer Fr. Timothy Gallagher draws from real-life stories and his experience as a spiritual director to explain the core principles of the examen prayer: What is the examen and how can we begin to pray it? How can we adapt it to our individual lives? What are its fruits?
